After eight years on ORC’s Council of Management Professor Christine Watson has decided to step down as a trustee.
Our chair, Donald Peck, commented: ‘Christine has been an invaluable proponent of our role in providing rigorous applied research in support of organic farming. We wish her all the best with her significant new commitments in the organic/agroecological world and expect to continue to work with her and with SRUC as research partner and to consult her for guidance on academic matters.’
Christine is a long-standing friend and collaborator with ORC, having worked together with us on a number of projects over the years. Since 2017 she has brought a wealth of organic research and academic expertise to bear on ORC. She has worked hard with the Board and staff to help develop research areas and processes and to maintain and enhance our research integrity and administrative efficiency. Christine said: “ORC remains a well-respected and trusted organisation across both its research and wider knowledge exchange activities, and I look forward to seeing (ORC’s) influence widen as you continue to grow.”
Christine has many links to the organic sector and will now become the chair of the Scientific and Stakeholder Advisory Board of the European Agroecology Partnership. She will also continue as chair of the UK Expert Group on Organic Production and with her existing commitments in the sector in Scotland and at SLU in Sweden.
We wish her all the best in her new roles and thank her for her work and ongoing support of ORC.
