IFOAM EU conference on resource efficiency and food security

ORC’s Susanne Padel attended the IFOAM EU Group’s conference in Brussels on 9th November 2011. The conference on the theme of resource efficiency and food security considered the implications of increasing resource scarcity, the threats this posed to food security and the potential of organic farming as a solution and an alternative to ‘sustainable intensification’ models currently being promoted. At the conference Susanne presented a paper (PDF 2.1MB) on the role of organic partnerships as a means to develop improved organic systems and innovative solutions to some of the challenges we face. A summary report (External PDF 530KB) of the conference outcomes and proceedings (External PDF 5.2MB) have been published. The presentation can be found on IFOAM’s website, here (External PDF 2.2MB).
