For more than 30 years, the Organic Research Centre has played a leading role in supporting the development of organic farming and food businesses in the UK, through research and development, advice, conferences and events, publications and policy work on behalf of the organic sector.
If you are a farmer and/or business operator, we hope you will have benefited, directly or indirectly, from the work we have undertaken, whether through the OCIS visits which helped many organic farmers at the start of their conversion, through attendance at our conferences or other events, through participation in our research projects, or more recently from our work in the last couple of years to help ensure fair support payments for organic producers, with increased support now available in most parts of the UK.
While much of what we do is covered by project funding, a significant amount isn’t, including our policy and communications work (website, bulletins etc.), the development of new ideas, and many of our events are only partly cost covering. We depend very much on voluntary donations to fund these activities. You may well have given support in the past, for which many thanks.
To help us be more effective, both in what we do and how we resource it, we would like to invite you to join our newly established Farmer and Business Supporters’ Group. In return for a commitment to a regular donation to support our work, the new Group provides an opportunity for us to say thank you for your support and to give you something back, including an opportunity to have a say in, and get involved with, our future activities.
As we move forward, your support will be even more important. With your support, we hope that many more organic farmers and food businesses can be encouraged to become regular donors and join you in supporting the vital role that ORC plays in the development of organic food and farming through research, knowledge exchange and policy advocacy. Please tell your friends and colleagues about the new group (or let us know so we can send them the information).
We do hope that you will join and actively support this initiative and we look forward to working more closely with you in future.
