Can regenerative agriculture deliver nutritious food and a just food system?
The workshop forms part of a one-year Agile Initiative ‘Sprint’ research project, considering the question Can regenerative agriculture deliver nutritious food and a just food system?
Short summary of the project and its goals
TABLE is working with Green Alliance, The Food Foundation and our core stakeholder body, made up of NGOs, farmer organisations, policy-makers, corporates and others, to complete this work.
“Our research engages seriously with the different ways in which people understand ‘regen’, then connects these different versions back to the food system. What would these differences mean for how regenerative plays out in e.g. our diets, the cost of living and for trade? What food would be on the shelves and who could afford it, who would need to grow what, and where and how would it be bought and sold?
“The workshop marks halfway through this project. By the time we meet in Oxford on the 18th, we will have developed a series of draft ‘versions’ of regenerative agriculture, based on interviews and a survey that we have completed with stakeholders. We would like your help to consider the differences between these versions, and to understand what the risks, opportunities and conditions are in each case for other areas of the food system – such as farming equipment, retail and processing, trade, price, access in low-income communities to name a few.”
