Last chance to protect organic & non-GMO seeds

The outcome of Defra’s consultation on Precision Bred GMO (PBOs) will have significant consequences for the organic and non-GMO sectors. Right now, there’s a significant risk that key transparency measures—such as a Precision Bred Plant Variety List and seed labelling—may not be adopted under industry pressure.

This consultation directly impacts your ability to maintain a PBO-free supply chain. Without clear seed labelling, traceability will be nearly impossible, making it difficult to comply with organic and non-GMO standards. With the consultation closing on 14th April, now is the time to make your voice heard.

Online Meetings – Have Your Say

Beyond GM are holding two meetings to support businesses, breeders, growers, and farmers in responding to the consultation effectively. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so now:

These sessions will:
✅ Break down the consultation and its implications
✅ Provide expert guidance on how to respond effectively
✅ Include a Q&A with Beyond GM, seed experts and the Soil Association.

The consultation closes on 14th April—this is likely the final opportunity to push for transparency and ensure some protections remain in the face of significant deregulation of these GMOs. The more voices calling for clear regulation, the stronger our case.
