Event Date : September 16, 2015
to 17 September 2016
The EU funded project TWECOM (Towards eco-energetic communities) has been investigating the possibilities of local valorisation of biomass from landscape elements. Landscape elements have been used for ages to produce local energy and heat, but this has disappeared during the last decades. Besides this, these landscape elements have become important for biodiversity, regional identity and cultural history. The TWECOM project has worked out a strategy to revalorise this biomass for local energy or heat production, taking into account the other functions of these landscape elements. The day after the symposium, we offer you the opportunity to visit the pilot area in Bocholt, where all aspects of a short chain valorisation of biomass from landscape elements will be demonstrated. The school campus is heated by wood chips from hedgerows in Bocholt.
Preliminary Program:
Morning: Presentation of best practices (in English)
Afternoon: workshops with experts (Dutch and English sessions) to be confirmed.
Bus available to transport you from Leuven to Bocholt and back – free.
You can register for the symposium and the field visit at Regionaal Landschap Lage Kempen vzw via info@rllk.be or 0032 11 78 52 59.
