Arable intercropping and variety trials

Event Date : April 24, 2019

Intercropping in arable systems and variety trials field lab meeting at Roundhill Farm near Swindon, SN6 7QR from 10.00am

Hosted by James Hares this event is a joint meeting between two field labs: Intercropping in arable systems and Organic Wheat Varieties. It will include an introduction to the two field labs and a farm tour of Roundhill Farm. James will give us some background to the farm and show us the trials in the field, and we will explore methods for on-farm monitoring of crop cover as a key performance indicator. Lunch will be at a local pub with a chance to catch up on what’s in the ground this year, an overview of group trials, planned assessments, summer events and setting a rough time/location for the next meeting (post-harvest).

In the afternoon there will be an optional excursion to see organic winter wheat plot trials at Bradwell Grove (OX18 4JR). Details tbc.
