Event Date : July 26, 2017

This field day will look also look at outcomes of Loddingtons GREATsoils field trial comparing two different mixtures of flowering green manure stripes established in a newly planted apple orchard to encourage natural predators and add organic matter to soil. Soil assessment tests that are being compared are the NRM soil health suite, water infiltration rates, Visual Soil Assessment (VSA) and earthworm counts. We will have a short session on practical earthworm assessment as method to monitor soil biology on farm, as well as an introduction to smart soil mapping for improved soil health and nutrient management in horticultural systems.
