Tree to heat

Event Date : January 19, 2017

Making use of on-farm woody resources: tree to heat

11 am – 3.30 pm Wakelyns Agroforestry, Metfield Lane, Fressingfield, Eye, Suffolk, IP21 5SD

Wakelyns is an innovative agroforestry farm in Suffolk run by Martin Wolfe. Established in 1994 it incorporates a mature hedgerow network, willow and hazel short rotation coppice (SRC), mixed timber and fruit trees intercropped with organic crops and vegetables.

Come and see a live demonstration with machinery in action coppicing SRC agroforestry rows and boundary hedges and pollarding trees in an agroforestry system. There will be a farm tour, and a chance to meet the contractors and researchers to talk to them about practicalities and trial results.

We will also run a short workshop in the afternoon to help us develop criteria to assess the sustainability of agroforestry systems.
