The Organic Research Centre's 2nd Producer Conference

After the successful Cirencester producer conference in December 2006, The Organic Research Centre Elm Farm, in conjunction with Organic Inform, developed a second conference at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. The conference took place on 10th and 11th December 2007 and attracted 170 farmers, producers and other stakeholders.

The programme was producer focused and the parallel workshops were planned and organised in collaboration with producers themselves. Five strands of workshops - growers, poultry, arable, dairy and beef & sheep were complemented by joint sessions on matters of common interest.

Some of the topics covered included feed availability, its price and the pros and cons of increasing on-farm production as well as issues relating to energy and energy use, carbon foot-printing, arable crop production, composting and recycling, two tier standards, equivalence & level playing fields and antibiotics.
